From WMU Media Relations:

"

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The annual showdown between Western Michigan and Central Michigan will be televised on Fox Sports Detroit PLUS on Oct. 17 from Waldo Stadium. The "Battle for the Cannon" will kick off at 3:30 p.m. Jeff Phelps (play-by-play) and Rob Otto (analysis) will have call all the action for FS PLUS.

This rivalry, one of the oldest and strongest in the Mid-American Conference, features two of today's premier quarterbacks in the Broncos' Tim Hiller and Central Michigan's Dan LeFevour. Hiller is the active leader in career TD passes in the MAC with 78 and has the first most in the nation among active signal callers behind only Coly McCoy of Texas and 2008 Heisman Trophy winner Sam Bradford of Oklahoma. LeFevour became the conference's new record holder for total offense in a career last week against Michigan State.

This game will be one of two televised games at Waldo Stadium in 2009. The Broncos also host Ball State in the season finale on ESPN2 on Nov. 24.

Western Michigan hosts the first MAC game of the 2009 schedule this weekend when the Broncos host Miami into Waldo Stadium for CommUniverCity Night on Sept. 19. WMU kicks off its home schedule at 7 p.m.
