Strong Start has Michigan up 31-0 over WMU at Halftime

by Dan Cash

ANN ARBOR -- The Western Michigan Broncos have been completely overpowered by a superior Michigan team in the 1st half of the season opener this evening. Michigan jumped out to a 31-0 halftime lead on the strength of 3 touchdown passes from Freshman Quarterback Tate Forcier to Wide Receiver Junior Hemingway.

It's evident after the first half that whatever Rich Rodriguez was lacking at Quarterback with Nick Sheridan and Stephen Threet last season, he now has in Denard Robinson and Forcier.

Forcier has been a surprise on one front for me. We knew he could pass, we knew he could run, but I don't think anyone expected him to move in the pocket quite as fast as he has during the first half.

I wouldn't call him fast, I think the best word is quick. But he has certainly shown that he is THE quarterback at Michigan in most situations and the Wolverines are going to be just fine this season.

From the Broncos perspective it appeared they came out tight to open the season. Not necessarily overwhelmed by the crowd, simply not expecting fully what Michigan was about to send their way.

I truly don't believe that WMU is this bad, I think Michigan may be this good. The movement they are showing in the spread, is just so much better than last season and it would have been difficult for many teams to deal with.

31-0 Michigan over WMU @ halftime. More coming post-game on Bronco Sports First!
