Simmons Cut From Green Bay's roster

An athlete’s career can be such a delicate affair. Just ask former Bronco Jamarko Simmons, who was once one of Western’s best pro prospective from the 2008 season.

Surprisingly Simmons was not drafted in April but later went on to sign as a free agent with Green Bay, alongside old teammate Greg Jennings. Jennings went on to say that he would be taking Simmons under his wing. Now it appears that Simmons will no longer be in green and gold with his pal.

To make room on the roster the Packers have released Simmons, who missed minicamp last month due to a back injury. He recently was receiving treatment for that injury with a specialist in New York.

Out of Green Bay’s newly signed talent, Simmons seemed to have received the most attention out of the receivers and possibly possessed the most potential. His size alone, nearly 240lbs, made him a man to watch in the NFL. He most certainly wasn’t lacking the confidence to tell you those details either. He once said he thought himself one of the top five receivers in the draft with hands as good as Larry Fitzgerald's.

How serious the injury or what path Simmons will pursue now are questions that have yet to be answered and it’s frustrating to witness someone who was so posed for success to keep missing the boat. There may be no second chances to win past bowl games, rivalries against CMU or to get that desperately desired call on April 25th but hopefully Simmons will get another chance to play in the NFL.
